Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™ (HNHN) Advisory Committee Call for Applications

The American Nurses Association has opened a call for applications for Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation™ Advisory Committee Member Candidates (2026–2028). This is an opportunity open to a wide variety of applicants.

Since its launch in May 2017, HNHN has advanced a clear mission: to improve the nation’s health, one nurse at a time. HNHN convenes a broad community of nurses and partners around evidence-informed strategies that support well-being and healthy practice environments. To date, more than 600,000 individuals and over 700 organizational partners engage with HNHN through our online community, newsletter, health challenges, and social channels.

About the opportunity
We are seeking new committee members and welcome applications from candidates who can bring perspectives on nursing priorities and needs, as well as practical approaches to advancing nurse well-being. Members serve a two-year term and participate in quarterly 60–90 minute meetings held via Microsoft Teams.

Responsibilities may include

  • Provide strategic input to inform HNHN priorities and engagement approaches.
  • Review, advise on, and recommend HNHN activities, resources, and communications.
  • Share insights on opportunities to reach and support nurses through partnerships and networks.
  • Contribute subject-matter perspectives to support content development (e.g., blogs, articles, webinars, special initiatives) as needed.

How to apply
If you are interested in being considered, please complete the application form by 5:00 p.m. ET on May 29, 2026.

Next Steps

Following the Advisory Committee’s vote on new members, an orientation will be held over the summer, and the inaugural meeting for new committee members is scheduled for September 2026.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to support nurse well-being and strengthen the HNHN community.

Building Nurse Well-Being through Peer and Leadership Support

The American Nurses Foundation’s Nurse Well-Being: Building Peer and Leadership Support program was developed by nurses for nurses to offer evidence-based tools and resources to improve their recovery from stress reactions. Adapted from the Stress First Aid model, it creates a shared language around stress and burnout to lessen the stigma nurses may encounter when in need of help.

The full program curriculum (four modules), implementation guide, and training resources are available for free to all nurses (with CNE available).
